About the city:

What can you say about Beijing, that hasn’t already been said?  Every street, every alley, every bridge, market stall, palace, and skyscraper is a National Geographic spread by itself!  More ancient than Rome; more cosmopolitan than New York City; more opportunities than any other large city in the world for TEFL certified teachers.  That’s Beijing, where over 14 million people swarm and jostle -- many on bicycles -- to earn a living in the shadow of The Great Wall of China.

Beijing offers some of the most dynamic culture, rich history, and amazing food in the world. Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China. The city is the center of politics, culture, and international exchanges, as well as one of the largest metropolises of industry, finance and trade.  Living in Beijing offers an amazing lifestyle for a foreigner teaching English. It’s cheap and has everything you want. The nightlife in Beijing is one of the best in Asia. The TEFL course is located in this city.

Our Program:
TEFL International provides both the training and practical experience necessary to become a successful
teacher of English as a foreign language. Participants will acquire a pedagogic understanding of English
grammar, develop essential classroom skills, and learn the mechanics of effective teaching.
Our program will ensure that you can effectively teach with confidence and find jobs worldwide.

Our mission is to give you the best TEFL experience possible leaving you with the tools needed to teach English classes of all levels, feel comfortable choosing adequate materials to teach effective classes, and feel confident to teach classes using a variety of materials, techniques, and methods. Our program will put you past all the headaches of trying to learn how to teach and will get you the best jobs immediately.

Course Content:

This is a 4-week intensive course. The program is divided daily into two parts. Mornings consist of seminars and workshops focusing on language analysis and teaching methodology. Afternoons center on teaching practice, which takes place in small, supervised groups.

Trainees will teach real classes—approximately 4 — that are properly prepared, observed, then discussed in feedback sessions.
Completion of lesson planning and several written assignments take place out of class.

Things to do in Beijing:

Going on a tour: You will be definitely impressed by the ancient architectures of this city, such as the Great Wall, Summer Palace, Forbidden City and much more.

Daily life: If you really want to experience the real side of Beijing, go to the ‘Hutongs’ (Alley), that’s the place you can see traditional Chinese people walking with their bird cages, people playing chess on the street, eating in a local Xinjiang restaurant with lamb kebabs and have bottle of beer (.25¢), it’s an amazing experience. Most of the city is still amazingly preserved with cultural relics ranging from the Great Wall to the Forbidden City.  .

The nightlife: One big difference you can tell whether a city is a metropolis or not is the nightlife, Beijing is the one good example. The nightlife unlike a lot of Asian cities is amazing, from bars to nightclubs you can stay out all night and really enjoy yourself.  Some of the hot spots are: Houhai, Sanlitun Bar Street and Chao Yang Park area.

Shopping: You’ll be shocked when you go shopping in the Yashow and Silk Market in Beijing. You can buy an array of designer brands for next to nothing. Polo shirts can start at 5 dollars.  Beijing offers all products of the world for ridiculous prices. DVDs run from 70 cents, cloths and electronics all at good prices. Here are two ways of getting to the school to from the Beijing International Airport  (All Terminals)
1.    Taking a taxi from the airport directly to the school:
Show  this: 北京市东城区东长安街1号东方广场W3座601室  to a taxi driver. When arriving at the airport, keep away from drivers who approach you in the terminal or outside as they will ask for much more than the actual price. There is a taxi line just outside the terminal. Drivers should use a meter - make sure that the driver puts down the flag after you get in. Taking a taxi from the airport to our center costs between RMB 90 and 130 depending on the traffic and time of the day. Bear in mind that keep a printed receipt in case you left something in the taxi.

2. Taking the Airport Express Train to the school.
It is very convenient and easy to find the entrance for the Airport Express Line both at T2 and T3. Buy a train ticket (RMB 25/person) at the ticket counter. The train leaves from T3, stops at T2 and you need to get off at Dongzhimen Station (东直门站); then transfer to Line 2 (there are signs all over the place) and get off at Jianguomen  Station (建国门站) and lastly transfer to Line 1 and get off at Wangfujing (王府井站) then  walk out from Exit A. We will meet you at the entrance. More details about the subway lines can be found on: (http://www.beijingchina.net.cn/transportation/subway.html)

From the city center take the Line One subway to Guo Mao (International Trade Center). Once you get off from Exit C follow the signs to Jianwai SOHO (建外SOHO). We are located in Building B, Room 1207.
