Taichi practice with local people near school every day, free of charge. • Italian food, Indian food, Thai food, western fast food and Chinese food of all flavours available in town. • Internet access available at school within 30 minutes, for free. Internet cafes close by, for 35 cents per hour. • 15 minutes bus ride to Macau border from our school site for 2 or 3 RMB. 1 hour ferry ride to Hong Kong. 2 hours bus ride to Guangzhou. 1 hour ferry ride to Shenzhen. I was born in Hunan Province, China and grew up there. When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a teacher very much because I was told that teaching was the most brilliant career in the world. So, I was determined to go to a teacher’s school after finishing middle school. 3 years later, I became a government teacher of English in my hometown and I enjoyed the experience very much. I used to work and study very hard. I went part time to a Teacher’s College in my hometown, while I was teaching there and earned my diploma. After arriving in Guangzhou, I went part time again to South China Normal University and obtained a BA, majoring in English Education. Along the way I increased my skills, deepened my understanding of students and different learning environments, and became a more proficient teacher.
About 5 years ago, in August, 2006 I got a job working as a trainer in TEFL International after taking the course and getting the TESOL Certificate. I always find it enjoyable to work here because I can meet people from all over the world and learn about different cultures from them. Most importantly, the working environment in TEFL International is very pleasant; the staff members in TEFL International care about each other so much. They are always happy to share their experience and ready to help each other.
Accommodation
As it‘s GLV’s peak time now in summer, there are difficulties in arranging accommodation for trainees. For all potential trainees this July 11th - August 5th 2011 course you have the following options:
1. Stay in a hotel, which is about $450 or so for a course. 2. Share with another trainee in a bedroom in the dorm at $125 for a course. 3. Stay in an apartment, 2 spare rooms available now for $200, utilities included.
4. Rent their own room for 100-400 USD per month. The price varies depending on the quality of the room.

Directions in Chinese Character
Take the train from the airport to the last stop, Hong Kong. Travel time is approximately 20 minutes and costs $100HK. Take the taxi to the Macau ferry terminal - travel time is approximately 10 minutes and costs $25HK. Buy a ticket for the ferry on third floor of the mall at a travel agency across from the ferry terminal entrance. Take the ferry to Zhuhai – travel time is approximately 1hr and 10 minutes. You may get RMB currency from the bank machine in the hotel lobby to your left when you are exiting the Zhuhai ferry terminal. Take a taxi to the Gateway Language Village (柠溪路香洲文化广场平和英语B区二楼) – travel time is approximately 20 minutes and costs 30 RMB. Use the map and the directions in Chinese characters provided here to direct the cab driver. Travel time is approximately 2 and a half to 3 hours.
